New Gym Equipment in Maurice Lea Park

As some of you may have already spotted there has been some new equipment installed in Maurice Lea Park.

This will be officially unveiled over the next couple of weeks and some information with how best to use the equipment will be displayed too.

The concept of adult outdoor gym equipment is popular on the continent and is gradually increasing in popularity here.  The equipment was selected following trials by walking and fitness groups on different equipment throughout the region and also a display at the Healthier South Derbyshire event.

This pilot scheme was paid for by external funding and if successful could be extended in other areas.

As well as encouraging adults to partake in physical exercise some areas have also noted a decrease in anti-social behaviour due to increased park usage.  Having only been installed on Friday 7th the new equipment was proving popular over the following weekend.
