Dog Fouling
Residents rightfully took this up with us, South Derbyshire District Council and noticeably on social media sites. It is always our aim to deal with issues quickly and respond to residents as soon as possible. The following actions were implemented:
- The clean team removed the mess.
- Extra warden presence in certain areas was requested
- Areas were patrolled and warnings were given when appropriate
- Information & warning leaflets were dropped in key areas.
- More warning signs were placed in key areas.
- More bins have been provided to lessen the excuse for littering and fouling.
Contrary to any other information received this work has been implemented by the wardens from SDDC and pursued by the Church Gresley ward councillors.
We continue to monitor the situation and an improvement has been noticed. However, we need to ensure that the action has a sustainable effect to stop it re-occurring. We have been looking into how other councils deal with the issue and are going to work closer with the wardens to understand their work and how it affects our ward.
Litter
We have requested a review of bin provision around the Castle Road area and requested a clean up around Spring Street. There is now a new bin in this area as can be seen in the previous post.
If you have a problem with littering and/or dog fouling in your area, please let us know.
We have been made aware at our most recent surgery of issues surrounding the recycling centre and the former Memorial Club on York Road. We are currently working with the council to ensure that these issues are resolved. This will include some new signing.

| Fly tipping far worse than the above has been noticed at the Recycling centre but this is a typical event. |

The key points are not to put yourself at risk and not to disturb any evidence. The more information that can be given to the council will lead to an increased chance of a prosecution. The number to call is 01283 595795.
Issues around the lower lagoon on Castleton Park
We are also pursuing actions relating to issues reported around the settlement lagoon nature area of Castleton Park. The pictures below show some littering and damage to the footbridge. It is vital to ensure that this does not increase. Several action plans are currently in place and more updates will follow.
